  • Six acre croft
  • Breathtaking scenery
  • Tranquil location
  • Electric & mains water on site
  • Enclosed paddock
  • Outline planning for 1.5 storey house
  • Two holiday chalets
  • Chalet contents included in the sale
  • Lots of potential
  • Viewing by appointment only

The awe-inspiring scenic location of this six-acre croft, is a mouth-watering prospect which should attract lots of interest. With a large paddock and two holiday chalets, this would be an attractive enough acquisition. However, there is also outline planning permission for a one and a half storey house and both mains water and electricity are available on-site. The proposed site of the house, commands a fantastic view over the whole croft and the surrounding countryside.  It is rare that something of this nature in such a tranquil setting, should be presented to the market and there are countless opportunities that come with it. We are delighted to have been asked to bring such a beautiful prospect to the market.

About Glenmoriston

East Dundreggan Croft is located by the side of the A887 Invermoriston to Skye Road approximately 7 miles from Invermoriston, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The neighbouring land is home to the charity Trees For Life who, since 2008 have been replanting the neighbouring land making it a haven for many rare species of animals and plant life.

The Glen is dominated by the River Moriston, which is a big attraction for fishermen and birdwatchers who come to see osprey and eagles fishing on the river. At Loch Dundreggan the natural force of the river is tapped through a hydro-electric dam, which supplies power to the area. Water is let out of the dam on Tuesdays, making it a popular attraction for white water rafting and canoeing. After a feasibility study wild boar were re-introduced by Trees For Life to a large fenced off area of the Dundreggan Estate in late 2009.

Glenmoriston is also steeped in Jacobite history. After the Battle Of Culloden in 1746, the pretender to the Scottish throne, Bonnie Prince Charlie escaped to safety through Glenmoriston. Here the Prince took refuge in a cave up in the hills where the River Doe flows down into the glen. He was famously protected by the Seven Men of Glenmoriston, in spite of a £30,000 reward (around £4.2 million today). By the side of the road is Roderick Mackenzie's cairn, a tribute to a loyal supporter of the Stuart Prince who pretended to be Charlie and allowed himself to be captured and killed by the soldiers pursuing the young pretender, giving the real man time to escape to safety.

Going back Invermoriston, you will discover grocery and gift shops, a hotel and a community centre. A few miles further on, there are a wider range of amenities in the Villages of Fort Augustus and Drumnadrochit, both popular tourist locations. These amenities include a variety of shops, schools, medical centres, hotels and restaurants, garages and petrol stations.

Looking further afield, Isle of Skye, another popular tourist location, is seventy-one miles to the west and Inverness, the Highland capital, is thirty-five miles north east. The city plays host to the Baxter’s Loch Ness marathon and an Inverness half marathon is held annually too. There are excellent sports facilities in the city. There are two cinemas and Eden Court Theatre offers an excellent choice of drama, comedy and a variety of other shows, arts and crafts too. Dalcross airport links Inverness, not only to London but to several other European cities.
