The area is a tourist magnet, set in the heart of the famous whisky trail. It also has its own Cathedral, now a ruin but still a haven for tourists to the town. Elgin is situated on the south coast of the Moray Firth and is approximately 38.5 miles from Inverness and 66 miles from Aberdeen all being linked by the A96.
